He Made it to Scotland . .. and he is staying in Scotland!

Mason left the Preston, England MTC on Wednesday, September 24 for the Scotland/Ireland mission.  We got a one-line e-mail from him Wednesday morning saying that they were just getting ready to get on a bus to take them to the mission home in Edinburgh.

This morning we got this e-mail from his mission president:

Dear Brother and Sister Wynder,

Just a brief e-mail to let you know that your missionary, Elder Wynder,  arrived safely in Scotland from the Preston, England Missionary Training Center.  Upon arriving he had the opportunity to climb Arthur's Seat where he committed to serve the Lord, similar to what Orson Pratt, an Apostle of the Lord did in 1840.

His trainer is Elder Lauricella , and they are laboring in  Ayr (Ayr Ward).

On Monday you can expect an e-mail which will provide you with more information about his companion and area.

Thank you for all that you have done to prepare Elder Wynder to serve the Lord for the next two years.

Alan H. Brown, PresidentScotland/Ireland Mission

Since getting this e-mail, we have been doing a little research about the area where he will be serving - and it sounds like it is the perfect place for Mason.

Ayr is located about 40 miles southwest of Glasgow on the west coast of Scotland.  It is about 85 miles from the mission home in Edinburgh. The Ayr ward is part of the Paisley, Scotland stake which has 5 wards and 3 branches.

It is a popular seaside resort with three public golf courses, Ayr Racecourse, and - what I am sure Mason will be most happy about - "a magnificent array of castles."  It is also where William Wallace (Braveheart) lived for the last few years of his life and there is a tower in the middle of the town called "Wallace Tower."

We are anxious to hear from him (not sure when that will be) and get more details.

Here are a few pictures from my search for Google images . . . it looks like a beautiful place!
